Valentine's Day is coming up and it does not have to be all about the grown ups. I want to involve my little girls in the heart filled bubble that is Valentine's so I did a little bit of internet research and found some very sweet ideas that can be done with your kiddies to make the day special.
1. Make a card for a family member
Here are a few of my favourites. I do love puns!
2. Have pizza over candlelight
Make your own pizzas, decorate them together with all things pink and red - ham, red peppers, tomatoes and dress up to sit down to a candlelit dinner together.
3. Let them make a Valentine's mess
You mean you actually want me to make a mess? And... you're not going to go momma-crazy??
Make pink slime, fish for hearts, find things around the kitchen to print with!
4. Do a random act of kindness
Teaching kindness and compassion for others is so important to me in my own family. Why not make some cookies for your neighbours, draw a picture for an elderly person on your street, encourage them to play with someone new in school.
5. Pack them a special Valentine's Day lunch for school
Lola does not like to venture outside the ham and cheese sambos which is lucky for me because weekday mornings are not exactly full of time to cut out heart shaped pear pieces.... however looking at these pictures I think I could give it a go for Valentine's Day.
6. Make a Valentine's craft together
I love anything to do with cutting, making and sticking so this is one I will definitely do, but I know not everyone is as Prit-Stick happy as me - so I've had a look for some quick and easy ones you could try without buying a Tesco cart of art supplies.
7. Send them on a heart hunt around the garden
Saving my favourite one until the end- Hide chocolate hearts around the garden or house which they have to search for. Maybe the love monster can leave a heart shaped map to lead them to his hiding places.
