My name is Nikki. I am a wife, mom and a primary school teacher that is passionate about all things unique, creative and teeny tiny. When I am not pinning correlated border around display boards and Googling my way through motherhood, I like to spend my time writing, exporing or rummaging through the endless troves of Pinterest, Instagram and all other social media platforms. I have two little girls who have taken over my heart and my Instagram squares! I am also a newly married lady. Not to brag, but my hubby cooks AND sings - the chef/musician combo is as great as it sounds (he even washes up!)
'Don't Tell the Bride'
Our wedding day was the cliché 'best day of our lives,' however, this was the only cliché on the day. Jamie and I got married in a most untraditional manner. We took part in the TV show 'Don't Tell the Bride.' For those who are unaware, this show sees the groom facing the challenge of organising their own wedding in only three weeks without the bride's input. This was particularly difficult in our case, as I had just given birth to our second daughter just seven weeks before. Not even a text message is exchanged until that walk down the aisle, or in my case - a boat trip across a forest lake, in the BLUE dress he not only chose, but dyed himself in a kitchen pot.
The whole experience of DTTB was so much more than a hand dyed dress and a paddle boat. It does not define me by any means, but challenged my perceptions and stretched both of our boundaries. I have grown and learnt so much from it all. It was a journey of self-discovery, self-belief and love - a journey which has led to this blog. What started out as a wedding blog, has now evolved, just as my own life has - this is LifeAfterBlue.
